Reti ecologiche in Adriatico per Fratino e Foca monaca
La creazione di una vera e propria rete ecologica, tra le aree protette, è il primo passo per la conservazione della biodiversità. Alcune specie si prestano meglio di altre nella creazione di una rete ecologica come prima esperienza nell’ambiente Adriatico. La protezione di alcune di queste, che occupano diversi tipi di habitat, porta anche il vantaggio di conservare l’ambiente marino costiero caratteristico di questo mare. Si prevede di lavorare su due specie simbolo: un mammifero, la Foca monaca del Mediterraneo (Monachus monachus), ed un uccello, il Fratino (Charadrius alexandrinus). Due specie che presentano una vasta distribuzione e che abitano i due habitat più tipici dell’ Adriatico: rispettivamente le grotte dei litorali rocciosi e le coste sabbiose.

Questi i prossimi passi:
1) A breve ci sarà la call per i bandi IPA-Adriatico CBC con tasso di cofinanziamento dell’85%
2) Il progetto ChaMon sarà presentato nel programma IPA-Adriatico CBC nella priorità 2 (Risorse Naturali, culturali e prevenzione dei rischi) con la misura 2.1 (Protezione e sviluppo dell’ambiente marino costiero) o in alternativa nella priorità 1 (Cooperazione economica, sociale e istituzionale) con la misura 1.1 (Ricerca e innovazione)
3) Il Parco Nazionale del Gargano si trova in difficoltà e non è riuscito ad organizzare lo scorso gennaio/febbraio il workshop promesso nella comunicazione del 2/01/2010

Ecological networks in Adriatic sea for Kentish povler and Monk seal.
The creation of a real ecological net, between protected areas, is the first step for the conservation of biodiversity. Some species are better than other as first experience in the Adriatic environment. The protection of some species, which occupies different kind of Adriatic habitat, brings also the advantage to preserve the marine and coastal habitat characteristic of this sea. Some of these species could be the Mediterranean Monk seal (Monachus monachus) and the Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus), because of their wide range of distribution and the fact that they live in the two more typical habitat of Adriatic sea: rocky and sand littoral.
The project aims to achieve this through a set of concerted actions which will include plans for sustainable development and efforts to raise the awareness of the local communities.
Pay attention to the following point:
1) Soon there will be a call for Announcements IPA Adriatic CBC with co-financing rate of 85%
2) The ChaMon project will be presented in the IPA Adriatic CBC program in priority 2 (Natural and Cultural Resources and Risk Prevention) with the measure 2.1 (Protection and enhancement of marine and coastal environment) or as in alternative in priority 1 (Economic, Social and Institutional Cooperation) with the measure 1.1 (Research and innovation)
3) Gargano National Park is in difficulty so it couldn’t organize the workshop promised for.last january / february in the email dated 02/01/2010

Fundraising and Protected Areas in Italy

I prossimi 15 e 16 aprile 2011, presso il Centro Visite di Farindola del Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga e con l'appoggio alla Riserva Naturale Lago di Penne, si svolgerà un seminario sul tema della raccolta fondi per le aree protette ed in cui si parlerà anche di AdriaPAN. L'organizzazione degli eventi è a cura di AIDAP-Associazione Italiana Direttori e funzionari Aree Protette, associazione tra i membri fondatori di AdriaPAN. Alcune delle attività del primo giorno sono riservate ai soci AIDAP.

On april 15th and 16th, 2011 in the National Park of Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga and "Lago di Penne" Natural Reserve, will be held a meeting about AdriaPAN project and Funraising for protected Areas. The activities are organized from AIDAP-Association of Manager of Italian Protected Areas, founding member of AdriaPAN. Some activities on the first day are reserved only to the AIDAP member.

La Riserva Naturale Lecceta di Torino di Sangro (Abruzzo-Italia) insieme alla SHI (Societas Herpetologica Italica) e la Riserva Naturale di San Giovanni in Venere (Fossacesia, Abruzzo-Italia), sta elaborando il Progetto TEA (Testudo hermanni ed Emys orbicularis in Adriatico) per realizzare una rete nella rete tra Riserve, Parchi Naturali e Siti Natura 2000 per confrontare le esperienze di gestione ed incrementare la conoscenza sulle due specie. La data ipotizzata per il primo workshop è il 4 giugno 2011 mattina/pomeriggio presso il Centro Visite della Riserva a Torino di Sangro (Ch). Lecceta of Torino di Sangro Naturale Reserve (Abruzzo-Italy), with IHS (Italian Herpetologica Society) and San Giovanni in Venere Natural Reserve (Fossacesia, Abruzzo – Italy) is going to develop the TEA Project (Testudo hermanni and Emys orbicularis in Adriatic) with the aim of a net in the AdriaPAN net among Reserves, Natural Parks and Natura 2000 sites for sharing experiences and improve the knowlegde on this two species. The proposed date is for 4th of June, 2011 (morning and/or afternoon) in the Torino di Sangro (Chieti-ITA), Lecceta Natural Reserve Visit Center for work togheter for the construction of the project. Progetto per un PARCO delle RISORSE IMMATERIALI del TERRITORIO (P.R.I.T.)
Esiste nel nostro territorio un patrimonio di tradizioni, saperi, pratiche dell’oralità che si differenziano da altre risorse (ad esempio risorse naturali, edifici di valore storico, complessi archeologici, ecc.) per il fatto di non essere tangibili. Per tale caratteristica fondamentale questo patrimonio rischia di non rimanere, di non essere tramandato, di scomparire, tanto più in una società che sembra aver smarrito la capacità di memoria.
Il progetto per la costituzione di un “Parco delle risorse immateriali” potrebbe promuovere e garantire la conoscenza, la tutela, la vita, l’ulteriore sviluppo nel tempo, la fruibilità delle risorse immateriali.
Centro propulsore dell’intero progetto la Riserva Naturale Regionale “Lecceta di Torino di Sangro”, con le aree territoriali dei Comuni circostanti.
Le aree tematiche che il progetto individua sono essenzialmente tre: le persone, con il loro patrimonio immateriale (saperi artigianali, racconto, canto, ecc.), la memoria, i luoghi.
Il “Parco” si struttura in aree disciplinari di ricerca e ritrova connotazione pratica in una serie di attività, come di seguito elencate.

Aree di ricerca:
· Narrazione orale (narratori, tecniche di narrazione, repertorio di storie, codici gestuali, ecc.);
· Ulteriori pratiche del corpo e della parola (canto popolare, teatro, danza, creazione poetica, ecc.);

· Altri saperi.

Attività:
· Censimento delle persone e dei loro saperi;
· Mappa delle persone, dei luoghi e dei saperi;
· Parco delle storie (l’indicazione dei depositari e dei luoghi dove ascoltare le storie proprie del patrimonio orale);
· Raccolta di testimonianze;
· Visite guidate (semplici, lungo un percorso che consenta di intercettare persone, luoghi e materiali del “Parco”; “speciali”, che prevedono la permanenza degli ospiti per un’intera giornata);
· Laboratori teatrali;
· Il “Paese dei racconti”;
· Mostra;
· Viaggio in un luogo;
· Biblioteca multimediale;
· Materiale informativo.

La finalità ultima del progetto, denominato “Parco delle risorse Immateriali” è dunque la promozione dell’integrazione dell’offerta fra beni culturali e ambientali, con conseguente valorizzazione del territorio attraverso la cultura.


Project for a PARK OF THE IMMATERIAL RESOURCES OF THE TERRITORY (P.R.I.T.)
It exists in our territory a patrimony of traditions, knowledge, practices of the orality, different from other resources (for instance natural resources, buildings of historical value, archaeological complexes, etc.) for being intangible. For such fundamental characteristic this patrimony risks not to remain, not to be handed down, to disappear, so much more in a society that seems to have lost the ability of memory.
The project for the constitution of a "Park of the immaterial resources" could promote and guarantee the knowledge, the protection, the life, the further development in the time, the usability of the immaterial resources.
The power centre of the whole project is the Regional Natural Reserve "Lecceta di Torino di Sangro", with the territorial areas of the surrounding towns.
The thematic areas indicated by the project are essentially three: the people, with their immaterial patrimony (handicraft knowledge, story, song, etc.), the memory, the places.
The "Park" is structured in disciplinary research areas and has a practical connotation in a series of activities, as follows.

Research areas:
· Oral narration (narrators, narration techniques, histories repertoire, hand codes, etc.);
· Further practices of the body and the word (popular song, theatre, dance, poetic creation, etc.);
· Other knowledge.

Activities:
· Census of the people and their knowledge;
· Map of people, places and knowledge;
· Park of the stories (the indication of the depositaries and the places in which to listen to the histories of the oral patrimony);
· Collection of testimonies;
· Guided tours (simple, along a route that allows to intercept people, places and material of the "Park"; "special", that foresee the permanence of the guests for a whole day);
· Theatre workshops;
· The "Country of the stories";
· Park ehxibition;
· Travel in a place;
· Multimedia library;
· Information material.

The last finality of the project, denominated "Park of the Immaterial resources" it is therefore the promotion of the integration of the offer among cultural and environmental good, with consequent exploitation of the territory through the culture.

AdriaPAN in Korba (Tunisia) with MedPAN

Partecipazione di Adriapan a Korba (Tunisia) dal 12 al 16 dicembre 2010 all’Assemblea Generale e al Consiglio Direttivo di MedPAN per la realizzazione di un progetto sullo sviluppo di un database comune sulle AMP Mediterranee.

MedPAN è il Network mediterraneo delle Aree Marine Protette. Il network conta oltre 18 membri principalmente tra i manager di AMP nell’intero bacino mediterraneo e 6 partner desiderosi di contribuire al rafforzamento del network.

Il miglior risultato raggiunto è senza dubbio la sintesi svolta in sede di Steering Committee sugli obiettivi del database che si vuole realizzare per le aree protette del Mediterrano che non potrà essere l’ennesimo webgis; come sottolineato da Charles BESANCON, responsabile del programma Aree Protette dell’UNEP/WCMC, dato che esistono ormai molti strumenti simili che hanno impegnato risorse nel mondo per milioni di euro salvo poi non avere dati a sufficienza per essere utili alla comunità. Meglio quindi un database solido e con elementi omogenei su tutto il mediterraneo che un potente strumento di analisi che richiederebbe conoscenze troppo specialistiche per essere utilizzato.

Per realizzare questo obiettivo è stato proposto e votato quindi che si costituisca una commissione ristretta di tecnici specialisti per la validazione delle linee guida e dei contenuti che si verrà convocato e si riunirà nei primi mesi del 2011.

Per questo incontro AdriaPAN è stata rappresentata da Saul CIRIACO, dell’AMP Miramare, che si interessa da molti anni di tematiche legate al GIS e ai sistemi integrati di database.
Lo Steering Committee è stata una splendida occasione di portare l’esperienza di un network adriatico come AdriaPAN all’attenzione di un uditorio di livello regionale mediterraneo che si è dimostrato sensibile alle questioni di bacino Adriatico.

Adriapan at “MEDPAN EXPERIENCE-SHARING WORKSHOP, GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND STEERING COMMITTEE of the project for a common database on Mediterranean MPA” from 12 to 14 December 2010 in Korba, Tunisia. Organized by: MedPAN the Tunisian Coastal Protection and Planning Agency (APAL) with the support of the RAC/SPA.MedPAN is the network of managers of marine protected areas in the Mediterranean.

The objective of the network is to improve the effectiveness of marine protected areas management in the Mediterranean. The MedPAN network today counts over 18 members, mainly managers of marine protected areas from the entire Mediterranean basin, and 6 partners that are keen to contribute to the strengthening of the network.

The best achievement was the identification of clear objectives for the database; it should not be yet another webgis, as pointed out by Charles Besançon, head of the Protected Areas Programme UNEP / WCMC, and we agreed, many similar tools have committed resources in the world for millions of euro without enough data to be useful to the community. It‘s better a well structured database with homogeneous elements throughout the Mediterranean instead of a powerful analysis tool that would require really a deep knowledge to be used. To achieve this goal was proposed and then voted to select a committee of technical specialists to validate guidelines and content that will be convened and will meet in early 2011.

For this meeting AdriaPAN was represented by Saul Ciriaco who come from Miramare AMP and whose skill are marine biology, GIS database etc: has worked and developed on behalf of the RAC/SPA Tunis one of the first database on the Mediterranean MPAs and some GIS system at national and Mediterranean level.The Steering Committee was a wonderful opportunity to share the Adriapan network experience with an audience of Mediterranean level; indeed, the feel was good!

New members in AdriaPAN, "Punta Aderci" .... and more

"Punta Aderci", una delle più belle zone costiere protette in Abruzzo, è la 23a area protetta che si unisce ad AdriaPAN. Il Comune di Vasto, Ente di gestione della Riserva Naturale Regionale di Punta Aderci, ha sottoscritto la Carta di Cerrano e si è unito alla rete adriatica.

Anche altre organizzazioni hanno aderito ad AdriaPAN. Negli ultimi due mesi quattro nuove richieste di essere partner in progetti AdriaPAN provengono dalle associazioni e imprese di seguito elencati.

"Punta Aderci", a coastal protected areas in Abruzzo-Italy, is the 23rd protected area in AdriaPAN. The Municipality of Vasto, Park Authority of the Punta Aderci Regional Natural Reserve, has subscribed the Cerrano Charter and joined to the Adriatic network.

Other organizations joined to AdriaPAN as well. In the last two months four new requests to be partner in AdriaPAN projects come from the associations and enterprises listed below.

"San Giovanni in Venere" in AdriaPAN

La Riserva Naturale di San Giovanni in Venere ha sottoscritto la Carta di Cerrano ed è divenuta così il 22° membro di AdriaPAN, la rete delle aree protette adriatiche. San Giovanni in Venere è una splendida abbazia romanica medioevale, nella regione Abruzzo, situata lungo la costa adriatica tra Pescara e Termoli. Con una recente legge della Regione Abruzzo ha istituito una piccola riserva naturale che interessa tutta l'area intorno al sito storico, dall'abbazia fino alla costa, dove esistono altre strutture storiche chiamate "trabocchi", antiche macchine da pesca usate sulla costa del sud Italia dal 1500 al secolo scorso. Il comune di Fossacesia (Ch), in cui si trova la Riserva, sta lavorando per sviluppare l'attività nella Riserva Regionale pianificando le migliori soluzioni per una attenta conservazione della biodiversità presente.

The San Giovanni in Venere Natural Reserve has subscribed the Cerrano Charter and has become the 22nd member of AdriaPAN, the adriatic protected areas network. San Giovanni in Venere is a wonderful medioeval romanic abbey, in the Abruzzo region, located along the Adriatic coast between Pescara and Termoli. With a recent law the Region of Abruzzo has instituted a small Natural Reserve that interests all the area around the historical site, form the abbey to the coast, where are other historic structures called "Trabocchi", old fishing machines used on the coast of south Italy from 1500 to the last century. The municipality of Fossacesia(Ch), in where is located the Reserve, is working to develope the activity in the Regional Reserve to plan the best solutions for biodiversity conservation.

Adriatic Networks in Piran 28-29.10.2010

Pescasseroli Declaration 2010 Europarc

In occasione della Conferenza 2010 dela Federazione EUROPARC tenutasi al Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo tra il 29 settembre ed il 2 di ottbre scorsi, oltre 300 esperti in conservazione della natura hanno contribuito per la stseura e poi sottoscritto la Dichiarazione di Pescasseroli 2010. Il documento ricorda a governi centrali il ruolo chiave che assumono le aree protette per la salvaguardia del patrimonio naturale in Europa e nel mondo e chiede di investire di più nella slvaguardia della natura invece di continuare, come sta accadendo in molti Stati a ridurre le risorse investite.

On the occasion of the EUROPARC Federation conference 2010, September 29th- October 2nd,in the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park Italy around 300 international nature conservationists contributed to the Pescasseroli Declaration 2010. The document reminds governments that protected areas are key players in saving natural heritage in Europe and around the world and urges them to invest more in nature conservation.

Two years Birthday for AdriaPAN

Due anni fa, il 26 settembre 2008, nel Centro Congressi del Parco Naturale del Delta del Po a Porto Caleri, Rosolina (Ro-Ita), è stata sottoscritta la Carta di Cerrano dalle prime dieci Aree Protette. Da lì AdriaPAN ha sviluppato tutte le attività e oggi ben 21 aree protette adriatiche hanno sottoscritto il documento stesso per un partenariato in progetti ecologici per una vera e propria rete di lavoro dell aree protette di tutto il Mar Adriatico. La settimana prossima a Pineto (Te-Ita), nel corso di una due giorni evento organizzato dalla Area Marina Protetta Torre del Cerrano, ci sarà una riunione per confrontarsi del futuro della nostra rete.

Two years ago on september 26th, 2008, in the Conference Center of Delta Po Natural Park in Porto Caleri-Rosolina (Ro-Ita), has been subscribed the Cerrano Charter from the first ten Adriatic Protected Areas. From there AdriaPAN has developed all the activities and today 21 Protected Areas have subscribed the same document for a partnership in projects for a real ecological network of protected areas around the Adriatic Sea.
Next week in Pineto (Te-Ita), during a two days event organized by the Marine Protected Area of Torre del Cerrano , there will be a meeting to debate the future of our network.

ChaMon meeting a Pineto

Lo scorso 29 giugno si è tenuto a Pineto (Te-ITA), presso gli uffici dell'Area Marina Protetta Torre del Cerrano, il primo incontro per il progetto ChaMon (Rete ecologica nell'Adriatico per la conservazione di Charadrius alexandrinus, Fratino, e Monachus monachus, Foca monaca).
All’evento hanno preso parte esperti di parchi nazionali, aree protette e associazioni ambientaliste, che hanno discusso i punti essenziali del progetto, prendendo in considerazione le varie opportunità di finanziamento su differenti programmi europei: IPA Adriatico, Life+ e MED.
Nelle prossime settimane si delinerà il possibile Lead Applicant per la richiesta di un finanziamento nel programma IPA-Adriatico CBC, ma non si esclude la possibilità di partecipare con parti del progetto ad altri programmi di finanziamento come il Life+, per la parte relativa al Fratino, e al MED per la parte relativa alla Foca Monaca.

The last 29th of June was solved the first meeting for the project "ChaMon" (Ecological network for the conservation of Charadrius alexandrinus, Kentish plover and Monachu monachus, Mediterranean monk seal) at Pineto, Italy, in the office of Torre del Cerrano MPA.
There were experts from national park, marine protected area and environmental associations and they have discussed about the main points of the project and the different chances of funding on EU programs: IPA, Life+, and Med.
During the next weeks will be outlined the possible Lead Applicant to require a IPA-Adriatic CBC funding, but it is not exclude the possibility of other funding like the Life+ for the Kentish plover and the Med for the Mediterranean monk seal.
